Bush congratulated the firefighters for their courage but ignores their diseases

"The metals and toxic chemicals are released now in Manhattan after the collapse of the World Trade Center and the fire is still burning at Ground Zero," wrote the Daily NewsOctober 26, 2001. "The city currently receives complaints from police officers andfirefighters who say they became ill while working at Ground Zero and the landfill at Fresh Kills, and we'd better not forget it" was writing the same paper two and half yearslater (May 25, 2004). Indeed! But while President George W. Bush uses these workersfor campaigns, it remains deaf to the demands of patients, and reduces funding for first responders and their equipment.
